Make Your Lawn A Happy Lawn: 10 Steps To A Happy Lawn!

A happy lawn is a lawn that families want to play on and that can hold up to all of the abuse a family will give it. By preparing your lawn in the fall before the cold winter your spring lawn will be that much nicer and ready for family fun.
To make your lawn a happy lawn; follow these seasonal tips and you and your family will be having fun all year long.
Starting in the Fall:

1) Cut your grass close to the soil and do a good raking. Get up all of the loose grass, leaves and any other debris that is on the lawn.

2) If needed de-thatch the lawn.

3) Aerate your lawn if you have poor soil.

4) Put a coating of seed down. Make sure to use a good fall seed that is recommended for your region.

5) Clean and organize your shed or garage so it will be ready in the spring.

6) Change the oil in your mower.

7) Drain and store the gas from the mower so that it does not pick up water condensation over the winter.

8) Check (replace if necessary) the spark plug in your mower and any other gas tools you have.

9) Sharpen the blades on the mower and any other power tools with a blade.

10) Clean under the mower deck.

In the Spring:

1) Put fresh gas in the mower and the other gas powered tools.

2) Clean & sharpen all of your pruning tools. Clean off any rust from the winter and oil the pivot points.

3) Fertilize your lawn in the early spring.

Keep your lawn mowed and trimmed about once a week but never cut more then 1/3 of your grass at a time. If you keep your lawn on the longer side it will grow more lush and resist any drought times.
